Hard at Work

Each table group is hard at work here!  We are writing our first letter of the year today!  We cannot wait to get a letter back from our mom or dad.

Quiet 10

We introduced the Quiet 10 yesterday!  It was a magical time.  The Quiet 10 is complete quiet writing time.  We can write and draw during Quiet 10.  This is our first step in introducing the Writer's Workshop.  Look how hard we are working!

1A Mind Builders

You are looking at the 1A Mind Builder class!  We voted and they came up with this name independently!  I love it!  Say cheese!

School Rules

Mrs. Mason and Mr. Dixon came to talk to us about rules today.  They did a great job talking about why rules are important in school and out of school.  We went over basic drill information along with safety rules for the changing campus construction.  We also talked about what skill set is needed to preform the job Mrs. Mason and Mr. Dixon do.  Most experts need training and experience in a particular area.  We are ready to create our classroom rules now!

Birthday Photo

Here we are standing with our birthday month friends.  These pictures will be hanging by the calendar so that we can remember when a friend has a birthday!  It was kind of sunny out today so you may notice some squinting. 

Shelia Rae the Brave

We introduced turn and talks with a book called Shelia Rae the Brave!  It is a fun book about overcoming fears and working together.  A perfect conversation starter for the first week of school.  1A did an AWESOME job engaging in thoughtful conversation. 

Nate's Birthday

On the first day of school we had our first birthday party!  Woowzahh! Happy birthday Nate!! You will see us watching a story on the internet.
